Soccer Without Borders - CoEd Tournament, 9/18
Updated:  08/19/2009 at 11:59 AM
East River Park @ East 6th St -
Central Park Rangers Football Club would like to invite NYMWSL to participate in our first annual Small Goals, Big Change co-ed 6v6 Soccer Tournament. The event will be held on Saturday, September 19th at the East 6th Street Field in NYC’s East River Park.   All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Soccer Without Borders (SWB), an international nonprofit organization that uses soccer as a vehicle for positive change in the lives of marginalized youth.

Currently, there are programs in 7 countries on 3 different continents, including 2 domestic sites in Oakland and here in New York City, where SWB is working to help underprivileged kids heal, grow and learn through sustainable soccer opportunities in their local communities. After several members of our women’s team have become active volunteers with the organization, CPR is excited to both support their efforts and give back to children in need through the game of soccer. We would like you to join us!

How can you help? PLAY FOR CHANGE!

Just invite a few teammates, friends, coworkers, anyone who loves soccer and wants to play to make a difference.  All you need is a minimum of six players (max 10 players), at least two on the field must be female, and the desire to help make a change! The tournament will run from 9am to 3pm with each team guaranteed at least 5 games. After the tournament, we invite all participants to relax and celebrate at the official pub of the Central Park Rangers -- Central Bar (E 9th St, btwn 3rd & 4th Ave).  The celebration will include a prize presentation for the winners, as well as a chance to win raffle and other prizes and, of course, the opportunity to enjoy the camaraderie of the soccer community with good food and drink specials!

Captain & Register a Team!

To get started playing for change, check out the tournament website at  www.swbsmallgoalsbigchange.weebly.com  for registration and tournament information. We ask each team to make a minimum registration donation of $300. If you feel moved by our cause, please work together to raise more funds or gently used equipment for Soccer Without Borders!
